CARSON, Calif. — Bristol Farms here said it has remodeled and reopened its original store in Rolling Hills, Calif., with a new design and decor package.
"We have been planning the remodel of this store for some time," Kevin Davis, president and chief executive officer of the 14-store chain, said. "The improved store features a well-thought-out decor package that celebrates and highlights the Rolling Hills community in an old-fashioned mercantile manner that is unique to any grocery store."
The interior has been modified to eliminate a layout Bristol inherited when it acquired the store in 1972 from Market Basket, a former Kroger subsidiary, including some aisles that went back to front and others that were on a diagonal. "That layout was not conducive to free shopping," a spokesman told SN.
At 18,000 square feet, the store is Bristol's smallest, and although it has always featured all the departments available at other locations, selections have been limited because of the store's size. With the remodel, all departments have been enhanced, the spokesman said.
Merchandise offerings include natural and organic produce; hand-selected seafood; organic and free-range poultry; hormone- and antibiotic-free all-natural prime and aged beef; over 300 artisan cheeses; grab-and-go foods; artisan hearth-style breads; a full-service floral shop; fresh sushi; and an in-store cafe and coffee bar.
