In response to customer requests, Instacart announced it would begin showing when products are the same price found in stores and when they cost more.

Instacart will display pricing mark-up information on the front page for each store as well as on individual product pages. Users can click for more information, such as the average mark-up per store.

The grocery e-commerce site also said it would explain which retailers set their own prices and which retailers’ prices are set by Instacart on a new “Store Prices” page.

Instacart noted its price mark-up information is based on average pricing across all stores, rather than item price at an individual store location. Prices may also change over time.

Recently, Instacart began charging a fee during peak ordering times.
