KMART NAMES GROCERY VP

TROY, Mich. -- Kmart Corp. here said last week it has named Brent C. Scott vice president of grocery operations. In this new position, Scott is responsible for all grocery and store-level food operations at Super Kmart stores. He reports to Donald W. Keeble, president of store operations for U.S. Kmart. Scott was vice president of operations at Kroger Co., Cincinnati.

Also, W. Karl Stephens has joined the company in the new post of divisional vice president for strategic initiatives. He reports to Michael J. Viola, vice president and treasurer. He was director of finance for Sears, Roebuck & Co., Hoffman Estates, Ill.

And Mark Cogdon has been named to the new post of vice president for operations and technology. Previously divisional vice president of financial systems, Cogdon reports to Michael Bozic, vice chairman.

In an unrelated move, the company also said last week that Thomas T. Stallkamp, president of DaimlerChrysler Corp., Auburn Hills, Mich., has been named to Kmart's board of directors.
