N.J. -- Panasonic here has unveiled its "next generation" of batteries with Oxyride Extreme Power, which will be supported by an aggressive marketing campaign, including print and online components. Panasonic will introduce the dry batteries in AA- and AAA-size power cells as a new category called Oxyride. The batteries were developed for use with portable digital devices, such as cameras, handheld games and audio products. The products will launch in the spring of this year.
LOVE IN THE AIR
LOS ANGELES -- Romance floats into consumer homes as New Line Home Entertainment releases "The Notebook" on Feb. 8. The release will be supported by a multi-million-dollar campaign targeting women with broadcast and print advertising, including ads in several national magazines like "People," "In Style" and "US Weekly." Commercial spots will air during a variety of programming, including "The Today Show" and "Good Morning America." "The Notebook" will be available on DVD at the suggested retail price of $27.95, and priced for rental on VHS.
'IDOL' WORSHIP
NEW YORK -- The "American Idol" phenomenon comes to magazine stands this winter. FremantleMedia Licensing Americas, the U.S. licensing division of FremantleMedia here, will partner with CSM Group to release the definitive viewer's guide to complement the television series in February. "American Idol...The Magazine," a 132-page publication, will launch with a minimum of 500,000 copies. The magazine is priced at $5.99.
