COMPTON, Calif. - In its more than 200 Southern California division stores, Ralphs Grocery Co. has rolled out its second bottletopper promotion, this time mixing milk with salad. The bottletopper coupons, which ring the neck of Ralphs‘ private-label gallon jugs of milk, offer $1 off any two bags of Fresh Express salad mixes and $1 off any one jar of refrigerated LiteHouse salad dressing. This promotion, organized by Connect Communications, St. Paul, Minn., follows a successful bottletopper coupon event that helped launch Sara Lee whole-grain bread in the retailer's Southern California stores. During the two-week promotion, stores saw an 8% rate of redemption of coupons and sales of Sara Lee white, whole-grain bread quadrupled. A division of the Kroger Co., Ralphs plans to launch more bottletopper events in the next few months. -- Roseanne Harper
