BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart has announced that the delis inside its Supercenters and Neighborhood Market stores have stopped using partially hydrogenated oils for preparing fried foods including chicken, catfish, corn dogs, french fries and hush puppies. Wal-Mart officials here said the chain has switched to trans fat-free cooking oils for those products, becoming the latest company to respond to growing consumer concern about trans fats, which are believed to be much more damaging to the heart and circulatory system than animal fats, saturated fats or vegetable fats.
