Combinations include carrot and celery sticks with hummus dip, a mixed fresh fruit cup, and apple slices and celery sticks with organic peanut butter and whole grain rice cakes, among others. All snacks cost $4 or less and contain 280 to 520 calories.
To find out what customers wanted from snacks, Wegmans asked Twitter followers for suggestions before working with the culinary and nutrition teams to finalize the options.

“Our people and our customers often tell us that healthy eating is important, but they struggle with finding the time to plan and prepare fresh, healthy choices,” Tom Colopietro, category merchant at Wegmans, said in a statement. “We’re learning that for many customers, ready in a few minutes isn’t fast enough. What they’re really looking for is something that’s healthy, tastes good, and is ready to eat right away."
The snack combos can be found in checkout lanes near the Market Café.
Wegmans cited research on increased snacking from the NPD Group and the Hartman Group as part of the motivation to introduce its latest offerings.
