FDA’s Brackett to Join GMA

Robert E. Brackett has been appointed senior vice president and chief science and regulatory affairs officer of Grocery Manufacturers Association.

WASHINGTON — Robert E. Brackett has been appointed senior vice president and chief science and regulatory affairs officer of Grocery Manufacturers Association here. In his new position, he will oversee all of the association’s scientific and regulatory activity, including the operation of GMA’s in-house food safety lab. He will report to Cal Dooley, GMA president and chief executive officer. Brackett has served as director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition since 2004. His service to the FDA also includes his former roles as director of food safety and security and senior microbiologist at the center. “I am delighted to welcome Bob to the GMA team,” said Dooley. “His demonstrated leadership, deep experience in the food safety arena and his academic background will help GMA and its member companies continue to deliver on their promise to provide consumers with safe, abundant and affordable food.”
