FirstFruits Marketing of Washington recently donated $20,000 to help support those affected by the Chelan complex fire in Chelan, Wash. The donation was made to United Way of Chelan and Douglas Counties and will be used to assist families, individuals, and organizations impacted by the wildfire.

“We’re glad we can help with the wildfire relief and are thankful owners, Ralph and Cheryl Broetje, give us this opportunity to do so,” says Naomi Lule, chief financial officer of FirstFruits Marketing of Washington and chair of FirstFruits Marketing of Washington Missions Commissions. “To us, this is about helping our friends and family in the community.”

According to news reports, the 146-square-mile Chelan complex fire burned all the way to Chelan city limits and destroyed businesses and homes even as far as the southern shore. As of last week, the fire was 55 percent contained. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

United Way will be using the donation by FirstFruits to work with the following organizations on fire relief: Red Cross, Chelan Valley Hope, Okanagan Community Action Council, Grief Center, Entiat Valley Community Services Foodbank, NCW Chaplains Foundation and Room One. The initial response indicates the greatest needs are for gas cards, meals and lodging.
