ST. PAUL, Minn. — Kowalski’s Markets here has launched its first recipe contest, and the category and prize money are both bound to be attention-getters. The category is Super Snacks, and one winner with the best Super Snack recipe will receive $1,000. His or her winning recipe might also get featured in At Home With Kowalski’s magazine.

The category of super snacks could be satisfyingly wide-ranging but the recipes must be original creations. In the nine-unit independent’s February newsletter, culinary director Rachael Perron, writes, “Pull out those recipes for cookies, brownies, bars, small pastries, candy, brittles, barks, fruit, snack or nut mixes, spreads, dips, crackers, chips, popcorn or other crunchy snacks, finger foods or party foods. We’re looking tor the next big thing in snacks.”

Contest rules can be accessed via a link in the newsletter.
