MODESTO, Calif. — Save Mart Supermarkets said Friday customers who use the chain's new loyalty cards can earn discounts on fuel redeemable at participating Shell stations. The card is being introduced Monday, along with the fuel rewards program.
The rewards card and the fuel offer are available to customers of Save Mart or S-Mart Foods in the Sacramento-Modesto-Stockton areas of Northern California, but not "at this time" to shoppers at the chain's Lucky Stores in the San Francisco Bay Area, a company spokeswoman told SN.
For every $50 in qualified purchases, customers can earn a 5-cent per gallon discount redeemable at more than 100 participating Shell stations on a single fill-up of up to 20 gallons per purchase.
The fuel rewards program is cumulative — the more shoppers spend, the more they earn, with each increment of $50 earning an additional 5-cents-per-gallon discount. Discounts are stored in the cards, which can be inserted at the pump to initiate the savings.
Save Mart said customers can also earn points toward fuel discounts by shopping at 700 online merchant sites in the Fuel Rewards Network, which is operated by Excentus Corp., Dallas, a retail marketing coalition specializing in fuel-based reward programs.
