MONTVALE, N.J. — A&P’s Waldbaum’s banner is using percent-off coupons to cater to value-conscious shoppers.
Between July 30 and Aug. 5, Waldbaum’s circulars featured a clip out coupon for 15% off a $150 order or 10% off a $100 order. All those who used the coupon received a checkout coupon for 5% off their next $100 purchase between Aug 6-12.
The retailer stopped accepting competitor coupons several months ago. Many shoppers had used offers like King Kullen’s $5 and $10 coupons at Waldbaum’s stores. Since then, it has offered other types of discount offers at Waldbaum's as well as at other sister banners — A&P, Pathmark and SuperFresh,
A recent promotion offered members of its “Live Better!” wellness club 20% off their next produce purchase if they spent $50 on produce during a specified period.
It also offers discounts to pet owners. It recently waived the $9.99 “Live Better!” signup fee to all those who presented a coupon from the weekly circular. All members receive 10% off all pet prescriptions.
Waldbaum’s also plans to offer its Facebook fans exclusive coupons, according to its Facebook page.
