BURBANK, Calif. - Sales of "The Fox and the Hound," the latest full-length animated feature from Disney to be released on video, got off to a strong start in March, selling 8.4 million units in less than a month.

The company expects "The Fox and the Hound" to become one of the top-five selling titles of 1994, she said. "We're very pleased by the enthusiastic reception for "The Fox and the Hound" as our loyal consumers seek to add this to their collections," said Daly.

The title carries a suggested retail price of $24.99 and is supported by a "multimillion-dollar" advertising campaign and a self-funded $5 mail-in rebate tied to the purchase of other Disney Classic movies. In a cross-promotion with Ralston Purina's Chex Brand cereals, "The Fox and the Hound" game is on the back panels of about 4 million boxes.

The movie also comes in a $29.99 combination pack with plush toys.
