BURBANK, Calif. -- Sales of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" topped the 20 million copy mark by mid-December, according to Buena Vista Home Video. It is on a pace to surpass the video sales record of 24 million copies set last year by "Aladdin." Buena Vista is the video sales, marketing and distribution subsidiary of Walt Disney Co.

"Our stores have reported that 'Snow White' is performing well ahead of our expectations," said Julie Reynolds, spokeswoman for Vons Cos., Arcadia, Calif. "In fact, all indicators point toward our sales of this video doubling those of 'Aladdin' last year," she said.

Gary Ross, president of Suncoast Motion Picture Co., Minneapolis, said, " 'Snow White' sales at our Musicland and Suncoast stores have been very strong. At this point we are well ahead of our projections and well ahead of 'Aladdin' sales."

Buena Vista initially shipped 27 million copies of 'Snow White' last October. The company reported that copies currently at retail are now the only remaining copies for videocassettes and it has shipped all inventories.
