WAYNE, N.J. -- Despite signed confessions, the pair accused of killing Brooke D. Lennon, senior vice president of merchandising at Grand Union Co. here, have pleaded not guilty to the crime in Rockland County, N.Y.

just a few miles from the house in Monsey, N.Y., where his 25-year-old wife and her 23-year-old boyfriend lived.

Prosecutors said their motive may have been a $2.3 million life insurance policy that named Lennon's wife Michelle as sole beneficiary. That will is being contested by Lennon's two half-brothers and a woman who claims she was Lennon's common-law wife prior to his marriage a year ago.
