Big Y Names Pazahanick VP of Real Estate

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Big Y Foods here said Wednesday it has named John Pazahanick vice president of real estate and development, succeeding Frank Horacek, who the company said plans to retire in 2012.

In additon, Big Y said its has named Richard D. Bossie as director of operations, and Steve M. Nordstrom as district director for Big Y's central zone.

Pazahanick began his grocery career as director of engineering services with Bolands Ltd., a division of Oshawa Group in Canada. In 1994, he joined Lund Food Holdings, Minneapolis, and later worked for an outside design firm and had his own consulting business. At Big Y, he reports to William D. White, chief financial officer.

Bossie began his Big Y career as a part-time grocery clerk in 1986. He reports to William P. Hogan, vice president of operations.

Nordstrom began at Big Y as an assistant grocery manager in 1996.
