Prego and Ragu account for half of spaghetti sauce sales in supermarkets throughout the United States (a $1.2 billion market) and in Orlando, Fla. (an $11.9 million market). Campbell Soup's Prego brands hold the first and fourth positions, while Van Den Bergh Foods' Ragu brands finish two and three nationally and locally where Brand Marketing checked prices at three supermarkets. There wasn't a clear low-price leader for all the sauces, but there were plenty of specials. Winn-Dixie listed the Prego brands as "Power Buys" for $1.75 apiece (regularly $1.99). Food Lion priced the Ragu brands as two for $3 (listed as $1.50 on the chart to the right).
