C&K Market, SUPERVALU Relationship to Bring Lower Prices, Investment in Oregon

Brookings, Ore (March 14, 2011)-C&K Market, Inc. (C&K) today announced a new relationship with SUPERVALU, INC., that will lower prices over time for customers of C&K's grocery stores, and expand SUPERVALU's presence in the West and investment in its Oregon operations. SUPERVALU®, which owns and operates 2,400 grocery stores nationwide and provides grocery supply services to another 1,900 independent grocers, will be the primary grocery supplier for C&K Market, Inc. beginning April, 2011.

 

"By leveraging the strength of SUPERVALU's buying power, we can access more competitive pricing on commodities and ultimately pass on the savings to our customers," said Doug Nidiffer, President and CEO of C&K Market. "We are committed to offering high quality products for reasonable prices, and this relationship helps us do just that."

 

SUPERVALU, whose West Coast distribution facilities also include locations in Southern California and Salt Lake City, will invest in its Oregon distribution center to provide service to the 62 C&K Market grocery stores in Oregon and Northern California.
