Father John Adams, president of So Others Might Eat (SOME), announced Costco and PepsiCo have made one of the largest-ever donations of food to the organization, whose mission is to improve the lives of economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals and families in Washington, D.C. “I would like to thank Costco and PepsiCo for their generous support of So Others Might Eat,” said Father Adams.  “There are more than 7,000 homeless men, women and children in our nation’s capital who don’t get enough to eat, and the food and beverages Costco and PepsiCo donated means we will be able to provide nourishment to those who suffer from hunger in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol.” The contribution to SOME was announced at the United States Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Global Supply Chain Summit by Tom Gorman, Chief Executive Officer of Brambles Ltd., who coordinated the donation from Costco and PepsiCo, two of Brambles’ value chain partners. “PepsiCo is committed to supporting and investing in the local communities where we operate,” said Rich Beck, senior vice president of Global Operations at PepsiCo.  “Our support of SOME is a natural extension of our goal to combat hunger by providing healthy meals for at-risk families.” In addition, for the past two years, PepsiCo has donated granola bars for the 10,000 runners and walkers who participate in the SOME Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger. The Trot raises money for the SOME Dining Room that serves meals daily to the poor and homeless. Each year, SOME provides more than 400,000 meals to the homeless in Washington, D.C.
