SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. -- DeSoto here has named John R. Phillips president and chief executive officer.er remains chairman.Phillips was most recently vice president of operations at A.E. Staley, Decatur, Ill., a leading industrial chemical manufacturer that makes high fructose corn syrup for the soda industry. He was also elected to the board of directors.
