LOS ANGELES -- Jeffrey P. Eves has been named president of the Video Software Dealers Association, a new position.
title of executive vice president. VSDA's board decided not to renew Rosenberg's contract in December and he has since left the association.
Eves, 45, will join VSDA around May 1. He is now vice president of corporate and public affairs for paper products manufacturer Fort Howard Corp., Green Bay, Wis.
With Eves' appointment, VSDA has changed the title of its top elected board post from president to chairman. Dawn Wiener, president of Discount Entertainment and Home Video Plus, Aus-tin, Texas, now holds that position.
Eves has also worked for Scott Paper, Philadelphia, Potlatch Corp., San Francisco, and in Washington, D.C., with the National Association of Manufacturers and the U.S. Price Commission.
"I plan to work closely with the studios, independents, distributors and new technology companies to develop the kind of mutually beneficial relationships that will enable video retailers to remain competitive and continue to offer consumers the best value for their entertainment dollar," he said.
VSDA also named Rick Karpel executive vice president. Karpel will report to Eves. Until January, Karpel had served the association as vice president of legal affairs and communication. He has worked on VSDA's staff since 1986. Since January, Karpel has functioned as acting executive vice president and was known to be in the running for the top staff job.
