Group VP to Retire At Hannaford Bros.
ros. here said Roger W. Hoyt, group vice president of retail operations, will retire June 30 after 23 years with the company.
Hoyt's responsibilities will be assumed by the company's three regional vice presidents of retail operations: Richard A. Anicetti, vice president and general manager of retail operations for New Hampshire and Massachusetts; Robert E. Dunton, senior vice president and general manager of retail operations for Maine, and Ronald C. Hodge, vice president and general manager of retail operations for New York and Vermont.
All three executives report to Hugh Farrington, president and chief executive officer.
Hoyt joined Hannaford in 1971 as vice president of retail operations and in 1977 was named senior vice president of retail operations. He became president of Sampson Supermarkets, a Hannaford subsidiary with stores in Maine and New Hampshire, in 1980, and three years later returned to his former corporate position.
Vons Reorganizes Retail Staff
ARCADIA, Calif. -- Vons Cos. here recently reorganized its retail store operations staff and re-established the retail business unit setup for its Vons and Pavilions divisions it had until last fall, when the company realigned its management team in a major cost-containment program.
Phillip E. Hawkins has been named senior vice president of Vons' retail business, responsible for all Vons' stores. He was group vice president of perishables, a position that has been eliminated.
Christopher T. Linskey has been named vice president of the Pavilions retail business unit. He was regional vice president of operations, in charge of Pavilions and Expo.
Jim Pierson has been named vice president of the Expo retail business unit, a new post. He was vice president of service deli.
Hawkins, Pierson and Linskey report to Robert J. Kelly, who, as reported, was named executive vice president.
In the area of procurement, Harold E. Rudnick has been named senior vice president of purchasing and merchandising, a new position. He is responsible for all areas of procurement and merchandising except drug stores. He was group vice president of grocery and national accounts, a title that has been eliminated.
Robert F. Smith has been named vice president of drug stores. He succeeds Harvey Durand, who was group vice president of drug stores before leaving Vons in February. Smith was vice president of grocery and frozen foods. Rudnick and Smith report to Kelly.
William Gensemer has been named to the new position of group vice president of grocery, frozen foods, deli-dairy and liquor. Gensemer, who was vice president of deli-dairy and liquor, reports to Rudnick.
Pamela K. Knous has been named group vice president of finance. She was vice president of finance. She continues to report to Michael F. Henn, executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer.
Warren D. Cox has been named group vice president of distribution. He was vice president of distribution. Cox reports to Horn.
Insalaco Appoints District Manager
PITTSTON, Pa. -- Insalaco Markets here named Donald Sklanka district manager. He succeeds Thomas Harkness, who has retired.
Insalaco, which operates 13 stores in northeastern Pennsylvania, is a division of Penn Traffic Co., Syracuse, N.Y. The regional retailer has two additional stores under construction.
Sklanka most recently was the manager of the newest Insalaco Market, in Tannersville, Pa. He joined the company in 1977 and entered its management training program in 1980.
In his new position, Sklanka will work with store managers and retail supervisors to implement merchandising ideas and maintain effective labor controls. He reports to Joseph Zoldi, general manager of Insalaco.
