Chief Financial Officer Is Appointed by Vons

Knous, who was group vice president of finance, succeeds Michael F. Henn.

Henn resigned as executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer, after 16 years with the company. He is joining Kaufman & Broad Home Corp., Los Angeles, as chief financial officer.

Dave Oliver, formerly assistant controller, succeeds Knous. His title is vice president, controller, which is a new title at Vons.

Henn's administrative responsibilities have been divided among several Vons executives, with most going to Lawrence A. Del Santo, vice chairman and chief executive officer of the 345-store chain. Knous reports to Del Santo.

Harvest Foods Names Chief Financial Officer

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Harvest Foods here has named Ken Branch chief financial officer. Branch succeeds Robert Rough, who left the company in February.

Branch was controller for the San Antonio, Texas, division of Fleming Cos., Oklahoma City. He also previously worked in the financial and accounting department at Randall's Food Markets, Houston.

As chief financial officer, Branch is responsible for Harvest's financial reporting and accounting functions. He will assist other executives in the areas of management information systems, office services and human resources.

Branch reports to Harry Janson, president and chief executive officer of the 54-unit chain. Harvest operates stores in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Manetta Joins Riser as Senior VP

BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Riser Foods here has named Frank Manetta senior vice president of wholesale operations, a new position.

Manetta was senior vice president for White Rose Food, Somerset, N.J. He also had been a first vice president and New England regional manager for Wetterau, Hazelwood, Mo.

At Riser, Manetta has the responsibilities formerly held by Michael L. Borstein, who left the company in February. Borstein's title was executive vice president of Riser and president of its American Seaway Foods wholesale subsidiary.

Manetta is responsible for sales, procurement, warehousing and transportation for both American Seaway and Riser's health and beauty care/general merchandise division. He reports to Anthony C. Rego, chief executive officer of Riser, which operates 44 supermarkets.

Big V Appoints VP For Merchandising

FLORIDA, N.Y. -- Big V Supermarkets here has named Steve Stessel vice president of sales and merchandising.

He succeeds Rich Rantala, who has left the company. Stessel was senior vice president of sales at Pathmark Stores, Woodbridge, N.J.

At Big V, he is responsible for all sales and merchandising strategies for the 31-store chain. Product directors, product managers and the manager of advertising report to him. Stessel reports to Joe Fisher, senior vice president of marketing operations.

Big V operates 29 ShopRite supermarkets, primarily in the Hudson River Valley region of New York, a Big V Market here and a PriceRite Warehouse Club in Fishkill, N.Y.
