Director Named for Milk Drive
ker Jr. has been named executive director of the Fluid Milk Processor Education Program, a trial project launched by U.S. milk processors to reverse the decline in the nation's milk consumption.
Decker was previously president and chief executive officer of the Benchmark Group of Westport, Conn., and Cincinnati, a marketing communications company.
To fund the first year of the program, a six month assessment is being placed on milk processors, which is expected to generate $55 million.
A board of directors for the program, comprised of 20 industry executives, was appointed by Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy early last month.
The program is being administered on a contractual basis by the Milk Industry Foundation here, a trade association representing the nation's milk processors.
Authority for the program was granted in the 1990 Farm Bill, and processors approved the program in a referendum last year.
Icicle Seafoods Taps Riordan
SEATTLE -- Joe Riordan has been named northeast regional manager for Icicle Seafoods here, a seafood supplier.
Roger Zimbelman, formerly with Kanimi Co., Seattle, succeeds Riordan as Western region manager.
The company also named Stutts Armstrong Southeast regional manager. He was previously Alaskan projects manager.
Riordan, Zimbelman and Armstrong report to Reed Smith, vice president of domestic sales.
Beef Group Picks Retail Manager
CHICAGO -- Kevin Yost has been named retail program manager for the Beef Industry Council here, succeeding Lori Neubauer, who moved from the area.
Yost is responsible for developing marketing partnerships with retail chains, and will also focus on implementing and evaluating merchandising programs. He reports to Matt Wineinger, director of retail programs.
Yost previously directed business development for marketing firm Spectrum Communications, Kansas City, Mo. Prior to that he had been director of retail programs for the Kansas Beef Council.
