Buford Joins Rice Food Markets

ts here has hired Vern Buford as its head grocery buyer, a new position.

Buford, who most recently worked as a buyer for Grocer's Supply here, has been in the grocery industry for 35 years. He reports to Dick Bergman, vice president of operations and merchandising.

Rice also has appointed Carrie Holm to an assistant grocery buyer post. Most recently an administrative assistant in the grocery buying office, Holm reports to Buford and Joe Mayeux, grocery marketing and merchandising manager.

Rice operates 31 stores in the Houston area under the Rice Food Markets, Rice Epicurean Markets and PriceBuster banners.
