CHANDLER, Ariz. — Food City, a banner of Bashas’ Supermarkets, has announced plans to host its 11th annual Tamale Festival, bringing some of the best tamale-makers in the Southwest to downtown Phoenix on Dec. 10 to 11.
The event will feature live musical entertainment, and will give attendees the opportunity to try a wide selection of home-made tamales, while shopping at booths offering arts and crafts, jewelry and other items.
The two-day culinary food festival will be free and open to the public, with the tamale-makers donating proceeds from their sales to local faith-based groups. On Sunday, after a taste-testing event, a panel of celebrity judges will name the festival’s Best Tamale, and Food City will award prizes to the winner.
