WOODBRIDGE, N.J. -- Pathmark Stores here received a special Community Spirit Award last month from the Community FoodBank of New Jersey during the association's first Golden Can Awards ceremony to honor food companies for their support.

Ron Rallo, senior vice president, merchandising, Pathmark, accepted the award at the ceremony. Besides donating food products, the chain had donated the use of its trucking subsidiary and computer expertise.

The FoodBank also presented awards to Twin County Grocers (Foodtown), Wakefern Food Corp. (ShopRite), A&P/Super Fresh, Kings Super Markets, Grand Union and Acme Markets.
