Get Lucky (Charms)

While the Russian Police Choir was busy performing Pharrell’s hit, “Get Lucky” at the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, Pentatonix was busy recording another “Lucky” song. That’s right, the a capella singing group -- who won the third season of The Sing Off on NBC -- recorded the Lucky Charms theme song in honor of the cereal’s spokesman, Lucky the Leprechaun. Lucky turns the big 5-0 this March 17th. As much as I love a cappella music, I think I love cereal as a snack even more. Now I can listen to a cappella music while enjoying the very same sweet cereal the group is singing about. When it comes to cereal, Lucky Charms has it all: brightly colored frosted, toasted oats littered with colored marshmallows like little tasty treasure. Whenever I go on vacation and they have Lucky Charms at the breakfast buffet, the kid inside of me sneaks an extra pack. Lucky Charms just has the ability to do that to a person. Even in my 30’s marshmallows for breakfast seems decadent. Perhaps it’s because Lucky the Leprechaun is as much a part of my childhood as the characters from Duck Tales or Tiny Toons (my apologies in advance for getting those theme songs stuck in your head).
