WAYNE, N.J. -- Grand Union shoppers received free Pepsi sodas during a special coupon promotion.Customers could purchase three 12-packs of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi or Mountain Dew products for $3 when they presented a newspaper coupon. They were then reimbursed $3 when they mailed in a rebate coupon on the same page, along with three Universal Product Code symbols and a dated cash register receipt to a Grand

WAYNE, N.J. -- Grand Union shoppers received free Pepsi sodas during a special coupon promotion.
Customers could purchase three 12-packs of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi or Mountain Dew products for $3 when they presented a newspaper coupon. They were then reimbursed $3 when they mailed in a rebate coupon on the same page, along with three Universal Product Code symbols and a dated cash register receipt to a Grand Rapids, Minn., post office box.
Officials at Grand Union Co. here and Pepsi Cola Co., Somers, N.Y., could not be reached for comment about the success of the promotion.
