San Antonio-based retailer H-E-B said Tuesday that it would begin this month to offer Internet shopping and delivery through partnerships with app-based personal shoppers Shipt and Instacart, and would launch curbside grocery pickup at select locations.
According to H-E-B, Instacart will expand service into San Antonio beginning May 12. Shipt will launch in San Antonio in an exclusive deal with H-E-B on May 25.
In addition to providing grocery delivery from H-€‘E-€‘B stores, Shipt and Instacart will partner with Central Market to provide on€-demand grocery delivery.
"H-€‘E-€‘B strives to provide customers not only with quality products at affordable prices, but also with innovative and convenient services," Greg Souquette, SVP and general manager of San Antonio Operations for H-€‘E-€‘B, said in a statement. "Partnerships with companies like Shipt and Instacart allow us to offer a shopping experience to fit the needs of our customers looking for timeâ€-saving solutions."

Customers who sign up for an annual membership with Shipt prior to the May 25 launch will receive $50 in grocery credit. Shipt, based in Birmingham, Ala., said it intended to expand the service to H-E-B stores in Houston, Austin and Dallas markets later this year. Leading up to the launch, Shipt said it would build a network of more than 300 shoppers and identify opportunities to support community organizations throughout San Antonio.
Additionally in May, H-€‘E-€‘B said it would launch curbside pick-€‘up at the H-€‘E-€‘B plus! located at Bandera and Loop 1604. Customers will be able to visit hebtoyou.com to shop and schedule a pick-up for the same day.
H-E-B's launch of grocery delivery services and curbside pick-up in San Antonio adds to a suite of growing e-commerce options available to H-€‘E-€‘B customers. Last fall, H-€‘E-€‘B announced more than 50,000 shelf stable foods, drugstore and general merchandise products are now available to purchase and ship at heb.com.
