Hy-Vee named Georgia Van Gundy as its new SVP of administration and industry/government relations to oversee several of the employee-owned retailer’s initiatives to strengthen its relationship with key stakeholders and government officials in an effort to attract and retain talent. She will begin her role in September.

Van Gundy, who has more than two decades of policy and legislative experience in Iowa and nationally, most recently was executive director of the Iowa Business Council, an organization made up of the 23 largest employers in Iowa. She has played a key role in developing a statewide strategic vision for workforce development and training that included creating an alliance of business, industry, nonprofit and education partners and helping pass legislation to support and implement a statewide strategic plan. Prior to the Iowa Business Council, she worked in the retail industry for 10 years. Van Gundy was recently named one of the Des Moines Business Record’s 2019 Women of Influence.

“Georgia has been a key player for many years in the areas of economic development in Iowa and throughout the Midwest,” said Randy Edeker, chairman, president and CEO of Hy-Vee. “We look forward to having her leadership and expertise at the table as our company continues to innovate so we can best serve our customers across our eight-state region.”
