Hazelwood Buys Delice de France
Farms Bakeries here has acquired Delice de France, a Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based manufacturer of frozen bakery products.
Neither the purchase price nor the terms of the sale were disclosed.
"The acquisition will significantly expand our product offerings in the croissant, Danish and puff pastry categories," said Brent A. Baxter, chairman, CEO and president of Hazelwood Farms, in a prepared statement.
Hazelwood has not had a line of croissants, a spokeswoman for the company said.
"Delice de France also manufactures a full line of parbaked breads and rolls and fully baked, frozen items. The quality of their product lines, together with their highly automated production facilities, provides Hazelwood Farms with a very attractive business opportunity," Baxter said.
The company expects to service all of Delice's existing customers without interruption and plans to introduce the Delice lines nationally before the end of April. Hazelwood Farms supplies more than 800 products to in-store bakeries and food service operators throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
No-Sugar-Added Fruit Pies Bow
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Country Home Bakers here has introduced no-sugar-added fruit pies in two sizes.
Available in 6-inch and 9-inch sizes, the pies are made with NutraSweet brand sweetener. Varieties are apple, cherry and mixed berry. The smaller pies weigh 16.5 ounces and the larger ones weigh 39 ounces. Country Home Bakers supplies frozen dough bakery products for in-store bakeries.
