Revlon Expanding Makeup Lines

aid last month it is expanding its ColorStay Lipcolor and Age Defying Makeup lines as well as adding a new fragrance to its collection.

The ColorStay Lipcolor line will add 10 new colors in March, expanding its shade palette to 30 colors at a suggested retail of $8.50 each. At the same time, Revlon will introduce ColorStay Lip Condition, a product the company said can be worn under any lipstick "to extend its wear while increasing lips' moisture content by 70%." That product will retail at $8.50 as well.

Three new products will be added to Revlon's Age Defying Makeup line in April. The products and their suggested retail prices include: Age Defying Extra Cover Creme Makeup, $9.95; Eye Color, $7.40, and Cheek Color, $9.95. In addition, the company said it will preview its fragrance "Adrift," as part of its spring 1995 color collection. The product will retail at $14 for a 1.6-ounce spray.

Gillette Women's Gel to Debut

BOSTON -- Gillette here will launch Gillette Satin Care for Women Shave Gel in April.

The product will be available in two varieties -- Extra Moisturizing Formula for Dry Skin and Gentle Formula with Real Aloe Vera for Sensitive Skin. The suggested retail price for the product is $2.69. Gillette said it has allocated $8 million for advertising support of Satin Care with its Sensor for Women razor during its first year on the market.

Chesebrough-Pond's Is Sued

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Cosmetically Sealed Industries, Mount Vernon, N.Y., filed suit here against Chesebrough-Pond's USA, Greenwich, Conn., seeking $17 million in damages and charging the company with trademark infringement.

The trademark in question is a logo of a pair of red lips and the product name Sealed With A Kiss, a lipstick fixative made by CSI. This trademark logo was infringed, CSI claims, when Chesebrough used the expression "seal it with a kiss" and a pair of red lips on header cards for displays of its Cutex lip products.

The suit said the Sealed With A Kiss product title was registered as a trademark in 1976 by Forsythe Cosmetic Group. When CSI acquired Forsythe in 1993, it added the red lips logo to the trademark.

Eileen Sharkey, director of public affairs at Chesebrough-Pond's, called CSI's suit "completely frivolous. No one's rights have been infringed." Sharkey said Cutex used the lips logo and "seal it with a kiss" slogan in the early 1990s on displays only, not on product packages, and that Chesebrough-Pond's will "fight this suit out in court."
