Just when I thought I was done reporting on the pet market for a while, Martha Stewart reinforced the importance of the category.

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is deepening its commitment to the category, the businesswoman said in keynote presentation Monday at the 2014 PLMA store brands trade show.

"It's one of the fast-growing areas of our business," she said.

The company plans to launch a new line of pet products called "Best in Show" for PetSmart by May 2015.

Stewart already markets "Martha Stewart Pets" for PetSmart. The line includes cat and dog beds, grooming supplies, clothing and other items.

She didn't provide further details on Best in Show, except to say there's plenty of opportunity in the pet market.

"Everyone wants to spend money on pets," Stewart said.
