SPARKS, Nev. -- Scolari's Food & Drug here launched a home shopping and delivery service this month to customers in three Nevada markets.

lari's 16 stores serve as fulfillment centers where employees select products according to orders placed by fax or telephone.

"The combination of a growing number of dual-income families that have less time, coupled with an increasing elderly population, make it a priority to offer this service," said Joey Scolari, chief executive officer.

Customers make their selections from a product catalog available in Scolari's stores. Orders placed by noon are delivered that evening by Home Shopping Alternatives, the Bethesda, Md., home shopping and delivery service.

Payment can be made by personal check or credit card and a $9.95 service fee is applied to telephone orders; faxed shopping orders carry a $8.95 surcharge.
