QUINCY, Mass. -- Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. here offered various produce items for 10 cents each in a recent promotion featured on the front page of a store circular.

According to the circular, the prices were good only at the company's two units in Watertown, Mass., a suburb of Boston.

Terry Vanderwater, director of public affairs at Stop & Shop, said the company does periodic 10-cent sales in different areas.

The ad also pointed out the location of the company's newest superstore, which opened in October in Watertown. The company already has an existing conventional unit there, said Vanderwater.

The store site was highlighted on a large map on the second page.

Stop & Shop operates 128 units in Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
