With FMI Connect coming up next month, Jerry Garland, president and CEO of Associated Wholesale Grocers, talks with SN's David Orgel about what Garland will focus on as the incoming chairman of the Food Marketing Institute.

Garland plans to make food safety a priority. "Food safety is important to all of us. And with the introduction of the Food Safety Modernization Act, which is in Congress right now, it’s going to bring a lot of pressure to bear to the industry to up our game," Garland said.
