In Los Angeles, Whole Foods Market and Amazon have begun free two-hour grocery delivery via Amazon Prime Now.

The companies said Tuesday that Amazon Prime members in greater Los Angeles and Orange County, Calif.  — covering the area along the coast from Santa Monica to San Clemente and from Pasadena to the north and Yorba Linda to the east — can shop through the Prime Now service for thousands of Whole Foods items and have them delivered within two hours at no charge.

Products available via the service include fresh and organic produce, bakery, dairy, meat and seafood, floral, everyday staples and other locally sourced items, as well as a wide selection of beer, wine and spirits.

Launched in February, the Whole Foods-Amazon Prime Now free two-hour delivery service is now offered in seven cities: Los Angeles; Atlanta; San Francisco; Austin, Texas; Cincinnati; Dallas; and Virginia Beach, Va. The companies said they plan to expand the service across the country this year.

“We’ve been delighted with the customer response to free two-hour delivery through Prime Now, and we’re excited to bring the service to our Los Angeles area customers,” Whole Foods executive vice president of operations Christina Minardi said in a statement. “Today’s announcement is another way that we are continuing to expand access to our high-quality products and locally sourced favorites.”

Besides free two-hour delivery, Prime members also can select “ultra-fast” delivery within an hour for $7.99 on orders of $35 or more. Delivery from Whole Foods through Prime Now is offered daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Customers access the service at PrimeNow.com or via the Prime Now app, available for Android and iOS mobile devices. To see if they are in the delivery area, shoppers enter their ZIP code at the Prime Now website or on the app.
