LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Winn-Dixie Stores' division here has launched a new promotion allowing shoppers in its 1,100 stores to easily make charitable contributions at the point of sale.

"Even It Up is a service we can easily provide to help make donating to a worthy cause very simple," said Ronald R. George, president of Winn-Dixie's Louisville division. "We collect the funds, distribute them to the organizations and provide the donor with a receipt for tax purposes."

Winn-Dixie operates more than 1,100 stores in 13 Southeastern and Southwestern states.
