Wisconsin Tops U.S. Award Winners at World Cheese Awards

Wisconsin cheesemakers claimed 24 cheese honors at the recent World Cheese Awards in the United Kingdom, leading all U.S. states that entered the international competition. The contest is one of the world's largest cheese competitions with more than 2,700 entries from over 20 countries and a judges team that includes 250 cheese experts from around the world. Two Wisconsin cheese companies won Super Gold awards, the highest award in a category. Carr Valley Cheese took Super Golds for Cave Aged Marisa and Billy Blue, and Sartori Company took two top-tier honors for Reserve Cinnamon Rubbed BellaVitano and Limited Edition Pastorale Blend. Additional Wisconsin companies winning awards are Emmi Roth USA (two awards), Holland's Family Cheese (two awards) and Arthur Schuman Specialty Cheeses, The Artisan Cheese Exchange and Widmer's Cheese Cellars each with one award. The U.S. won a total 72 cheese awards, with the following states earning three or more awards: California (15), Vermont (11), Oregon (10), New York (3) and Missouri (3).
