SPRINGFIELD, MA — Big Y Foods here announced it has entered into an agreement to buy the assets of two pharmacy locations here and in Wilbraham, Mass., operated by Louis & Clark Drug Stores.

Big Y will begin operating the stores, re-branded Big Y’s Louis & Clark Pharmacies, on December 19, according to a company press release.

All current Louis & Clark employees at both locations will have an opportunity to interview for employment, the food retailer said. Both locations will remain open and maintain the same operating hours. Services such as bill paying, money orders, postage stamps, lottery and photocopying will continue at both locations.

Big Y Pharmacies and Louis & Clark will work together to develop Louis & Clark’s ongoing home medical equipment division by offering referrals and consultations to Big Y customers through Louis & Clark’s Medical Supplies and Equipment in Springfield and the satellite Louis & Clark location in Easthampton.

With the addition of these two locations, Big Y will have 40 pharmacies throughout their 62-store chain where their first pharmacy opened in the Longmeadow Big Y in 2001.
