RICHMOND, Va. — Dennis Stanley, a Martin’s Food Market pharmacist here, received the American Pharmacists Association’s 2012 Immunization Champion Lifetime Achievement Award during its annual meeting in New Orleans earlier this month.

Stanley was honored for launching a pre-travel clinic at Ukrop’s Pharmacy in 1974 and for his expertise and training in travel vaccinations.

“Through immunization work with Ukrop’s and now Martin’s [a Giant of Carlisle division banner, Ahold USA], Dennis has become a recognized expert in travel vaccinations both locally and nationally, training hundreds of pharmacists to implement their own immunization practices,” said Jim Scanlon, regional vice president for Martin’s, in a prepared statement on Tuesday.
