HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Pharmacy was touted in two recent mailings to promote Pathmark's newest supercenter that opened here last month. A mailer, sent to residents here in October, highlighted pharmacy "because we want to develop a reputation as a full-service health care provider," said Stan Sorkin, vice president of public affairs. Pathmark operates 128 in-store pharmacies.

The message was reinforced two weeks later in a circular that devoted one of its eight pages to pharmacy. The circular included a $10-off coupon for new or transferred prescriptions.

The 800-square-foot pharmacy has a separate entrance in the 59,000-square-foot store, and was to be staffed with two pharmacists along with support staff, Sorkin said.
