JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie Stores announced it launched an app for iPhone, Android or Blackberry smartphones that will help shoppers manage their prescriptions and locate the nearest Winn-Dixie Pharmacy.

The app enables shoppers to view and reorder prescriptions, track refill status, receive alerts when their prescription is ready, set reminders to take their medications at the right dosage, manage key health information, and remind them to schedule a doctor's appointment.

"This new app will make our guests' busy lives easier, allowing them to take better control of their health directly from their mobile device," said Mary Kellmanson, Winn-Dixie group vice president of marketing, in a statement.

The app and its mobile website, operate on a secure network created by San Francisco-based mscripts. It supports interactive SMS messaging, email, push notifications and mobile calendar integration.
