DoorDash is reportedly testing a chatbot feature within its app, according to reporting from Bloomberg.

The feature, “DashAI,” allows shoppers to ask specific questions and receive restaurant recommendations. The tech is currently being tested in several markets, according to Bloomberg. There is no word yet on how users will be able to implement the technology for grocery orders.

The DoorDash chatbot tech does come with a warning that accuracy may not always be 100% with all interactions at this stage in the feature’s development.

DoorDash has not responded to a request for comment.

Back in May, DoorDash main grocery competitor Instacart launched an AI-powered search tool “Ask Instacart,”, which leverages the language understanding capabilities of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in conjunction with Instacart’s own AI models to create a data catalog that spans over a billion shoppable items across over 80,000 retail partner locations.
