Istanbul, Turkey-based online grocery fast-delivery company Getir has named Osman Yilmaz as chief financial officer.

Yilmaz, who has worked at a variety of Turkish financial and technology companies, will oversee financial operations and global financial strategy across nine countries, according to Getir.

“I have been watching Getir closely since 2015 and can't wait to contribute to its global vision and sustainable growth,” Yilmaz said in a statement. “Getir is a company that has touched the lives of every one of us, and I am proud and happy to be a part of this success story.”

Previously, Yilmaz served as CFO of Turkcell, where he helped grow the company’s financial technologies. He started his career at İş Bankası and held previous positions at TEB and HSBC. He earned a doctorate in mathematical finance and a master's degree in financial engineering at Boğaziçi University. Yilmaz also holds a bachelor's degree in economics and management from the London School Economics and Istanbul Bilgi University.

Yilmaz has his work cut out for him, as Getir—reportedly valued at more than $10 billion—is quickly expanding. Getir made its U.S. debut in November 2021 in Chicago and soon after launched in New York and Boston. The company more recently acquired Berlin-based rival Gorillas in late 2022. That company was valued at an estimated $1.2 billion.
