Giant Eagle takes a step back with ‘Scan Pay Go’ app
Retailer chooses to remove tech at some stores

Giant Eagle has decided to shut down its “Scan Pay Go” app at six stores in the Pittsburgh and Columbus areas, reports local news affiliate WTAE.
The app allows customers to scan items with a smartphone as they shop, and at the end of the trip they can use the tech to check out quickly.
Giant Eagle said “Scan Pay Go” is not well utilized as a shopping method at every location so the decision was made to pull the tech in select stores.
The app will no longer be used at the locations in Squirrel Hill, Wexford, Brentwood, and Waterfront in the Pittsburgh area. The two locations in Columbus have not been identified.
The Cranberry, Pa.-based company added it has no plans to end the app at other locations.

Giant Eagle pulled its "Scan Pay Go" app in six stores because it was not producing positive results. The retailer said it would not end the app in any more stores, but do you believe this to be true? Let us know in the comments below, or email the SN staff at [email protected] .
