Metro and the Too Good To Go app are partnering to help Quebec shoppers save on groceries while also reducing food waste.

Quebec residents can now reserve “surprise” assortments of the day’s unsold fruits and vegetables at Metro grocery stores, which are marked good to eat by the Too Good To Go app.

“With this partnership, we are offering our customers a new way to save by offering assortments of fruits and vegetables at a third of their retail price,” said Richard Pruneau, senior vice president at Metro. “Too Good To Go adds to other initiatives already in place at Metro to reduce food waste related to our operations.”

About 100 Metro stores in Ontario have been available on the app since 2022 and, according to Metro, have saved thousands of pounds of food from waste.

A pilot project was launched in Quebec back in November involving 10 stores, and the partnership with Too Good To Go has since expanded to 93 stores in 13 regions in the province. The program will be deployed in more Metro stores in the coming months.
