Rosie, a locally focused e-commerce company, has teamed up with national delivery service DoorDash to bring delivery to independent grocers. Officials from Ithaca, N.Y.-based Rosie said the goal of the new alliance is to provide a seamless, end-to-end e-commerce and delivery experience for both retailers and shoppers.

Retailers that use the Rosie online shopping platform can now offer customers delivery through the DoorDash Drive integration at no additional cost to the retailer. Benefits to shoppers include being able to shop with their favorite local grocer and have their ordered delivered whenever and wherever they want.

“Over 60% of our retailers currently offer delivery,” said Rosie CEO Nick Nickitas. “Our goal is to enable every independent grocery store across the U.S. to offer e-commerce with delivery to their shoppers, and DoorDash has been an awesome partner for us along the way. Retailers who have partnered with Rosie and are offering delivery see a lift in sales, order volume and basket size."

Rosauers, a 22-store retailer based in Spokane, Wash., began offering DoorDash integrated delivery in September 2019. The company has offered delivery for 25 years, and President and CEO Jeff Philipps noted the ease of switching from its own delivery to the on-demand delivery option and that it is a low cost for shoppers, which he said, is “the best of both worlds.”

Delivery for e-commerce sales is now a must-have, said Thomas Horne, director of e-commerce and omnichannel initiatives for Associated Food Stores of Salt Lake City, but “operating a store-run delivery service requires a unique set of competencies and investments. This new Rosie delivery offering provides retailers a low cost and flexible option for their e-commerce teams and online guests. The integration Rosie and DoorDash have provided to our members is game changing.”
