Researchers at Zoosk analyzed 3,733,185 dating profiles and 364,609,566 first messages to find out how mentioning different foods and food-related phrases affects online daters’ romantic interactions. They also surveyed over 7,000 singles to get some insight into how food and dating intersect. UK’s The Independent reports the results:

Zoosk found that not only mentioning food, but also the specific ones you express a love of, can have a big impact on your dating success.

The best food to mention? Guacamole. The avocado-based dip could score you a 144% increase in messages.

That may not surprise you, but the second most attractive food may well: It's potatoes, which scored an index of 101, followed by what many would think was the top-rated food—chocolate—which came in at just 100.

Want to turn off a potential partner? Then head to the bottom of the list and mention, even in a loving way, how much you love noodles, pho, burritos, barbecue or ribs, and your chance for love falls to 20% or even less.

But food is a great pick-up line, according to the report, as profiles that contain the word "foodie" receive 82% more incoming messages, while those who mention the word "cook" receive 26% more incoming messages.

Good news for some who prefer a plant-based diet—messages that mentioned being a vegetarian received 100% fewer replies than average back in 2015. Now, just two years later, they receive 3% more than average.
